Low Fat Raw Vegan Christmas Recipe Ideas

It's starting to get a lot colder in Virginia, and Christmas is coming! I absolutely adore the holiday season. Some of my favorite memories from childhood involve playing in the snow with my dad, mom and brother. I loved it when my dad would pull me in the sled! My mom and dad would always prepare several fantastic holiday meals, and it was such a joy to enjoy a beautiful holiday meal with my family. Here are a few wonderful fruit and veggie filled ideas to keep your Christmas and holiday meals spectacular, and just as special as you remember them!

     1) Veggie Christmas Tree
This beautiful christmas tree uses cabbage, green and purple kale, cauliflower, baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, and yellow bell peppers. Bamboo skewers, toothpicks, and floral wire are used to hold the tree together, and a cookie cutter is used to make the star. Please see Jeanne Benedict's site for the full recipe!

     2) Fruit Snowman
This adorable and delicious fruit snowman uses two watermelons, blueberries, and carrots. It also makes use of a melon baller to make the mellon balls and to make holes for the eyes, nose, and cute smile! Please see this site for the full recipe, under 'It's Time to Get Frosty'!

     3. Fruit Christmas Tree
I absolutely adore this beautiful fruit Christmas Tree made with green and black grapes, strawberries, kiwi, and a honeydew melon. A styrofoam cone was used to make it, but a large parsnip would work just as well, and be biodegradable. Lots of cute cookie cutters, including a gingerbread man cookie cutter, were also used, along with lots of toothpicks to hold the fruit in place. For the full recipe, please see the Ginger and Garlic Blog.

How adorable is this cauliflower snowman? Cloves were used for his eyes, smile, and buttons, and toothpicks were used to hold him together.

     5. Vegetable Christmas Tree
Kale, radishes, carrots, peppers, zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, and clementines were used to make this gorgeous veggie Christmas tree. A styrofoam cone and toothpicks were used to create the structure. For the garland, a vegetable peeler was used to create long, thin ribbons from a daikon radish. Cookie Cutters were used to make the ornaments. Please see the full recipe here.
